Play like France – Shooting

The 2nd instalment of the SheBelieves Cup held in the United States took place between March 1 and 7, 2017. The cup featured 4 of the top 5 ranked teams in the FIFA Women’s World rankings, France deservedly came out on top and must surely believe they have what it takes in the Women’s Euro 2017.

1-Unopposed

Set-up

  • 1 Goal
  • Start cone to start the session
  • 2 cones – 5 yards apart from each other
  • Multiple footballs

The aim of the session is the starting player (player 1) will play the ball to the outside player (player 2) at the cone.

Player 2 will pass the ball to the opposite player (player 3).

Player 2 will do an overlap run to receive the ball and finish in the goal.

2-Opposed

Set-up

  • 3 Goals
  • 1 Goalkeeper
  • 3 stations – 1 player behind each cone with 3 balls each
  • 2 Teams of 3

Aim of the session is to score more goals than the opposition in 3 different goals.

The coach will shout a station number (sometimes more than one), the player at that station will kick a ball into the playing area.

The coach can shout for another station whilst play is going on.

The teams in the playing area will try to score in each of the 3 goals and the first team to score in all 3 goals wins.

3- Conditioned game

Set-up

  • 4 teams of 3 players
  • 2 teams on the outside are neutral players helping both teams.
  • How many goals can you score in two minutes.

Challenges

Before you can score, you must pass into an end player – end players have 1 touch to pass it back in.

You can only score from a cross put on from a neutral on the side.
